Florida ASCD Board Votes to Support Daily Recess for Elementary Students Bill

On Saturday, January 23rd, the Florida ASCD Board of Directors unanimously voted to support Senate Bill 1001/House Bill 833 which will require 20 minutes of recess daily for all elementary students. The Bill is also supported by the Florida PTA, the Florida Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics, the Florida Psychological Association, Action for Health Kids, the Coordinated School Health Partnership, Latino Leadership, KaBoom!, fit kids playground, Alliance for Public Schools, and Santiago & Friends.

On January 27th, the House Bill 833 was passed unanimously by the House K-12 Subcommittee. Senate Bill 1002 is still in the Senate Education Pre-K-12 Committee awaiting initial conference.
