ALEXANDRIA, VA—ASCD, a mission-driven nonprofit dedicated to excellence in learning, teaching, and leading, is proud to announce its 2018 Affiliate Honors Award winners. The honorees will be recognized at the Leadership Appreciation Luncheon during the ASCD Empower18 conference in Boston, Massachusetts, on Saturday, March 24, 2018.

“ASCD Affiliates strive to be the trusted voice and go-to source for local educators,” said ASCD Senior Director for Constituent Services Walter McKenzie. “They serve as ASCD’s eyes, ears and hands on the ground where they live and work.”

The winners of the ASCD 2018 Affiliate Honors Awards are:

Award for Overall Excellence—New Jersey ASCD
Award for Excellence in Communications and Publications—Illinois ASCD and New York ASCD
Award for Excellence in Programs, Products, and Services—Florida ASCD and Pennsylvania ASCD

The Affiliate Overall Excellence Award recognizes excellence in five areas. New Jersey ASCD was honored for overall excellence for their work in membership, communications and publications, programs, products, and services, influence and policy, and governance.

Area of Excellence awards recognize achievement in specific areas of work. Illinois ASCD and New York ASCD received the Excellence Award for Communications and Publications, showcasing their exemplary journals. Florida ASCD and Pennsylvania ASCD received the Excellence Award for Programs and Services for their outstanding work meeting the professional learning needs of educators in their respective states.

ASCD Affiliates are geographically based groups of educators who strive to enrich learning in local communities, influence education policy at the state level, and exchange high-quality education practices.

ASCD has more than 50 national and international affiliates. Based on voting by ASCD Affiliate leaders, the Affiliate Honors Program provides the opportunity to celebrate one another’s work and honor those colleagues who model excellence in support of ASCD’s mission, vision, and goals, including the Whole Child approach.

Congratulations to these outstanding ASCD Affiliates and to all members of the affiliate program for the important work they do on behalf of educators locally.
